In 2009, at the Poly vs. Jordan football game halftime, Poly alum Tony Hill presented Principal Shawn Ashley with a $10,000 check, officially creating the Bernice and Leroy Hill Academic Athlete Fund. This moment, born from a personal commitment, marked the beginning of a community-driven initiative.
The fund, honoring Hill's parents Bernice and Leroy, embodies their belief that athletic effort must be paired with classroom dedication. Now a 501(c)(3) foundation, it continues to grow through dedicated alumni and community leaders, ensuring transparency and accountability in supporting future Jackrabbits.

Tony Hill
The Bernice and Leroy Hill Academic Athlete Scholarship was established in 2009 by my family and me to honor my parents who were great supporters of African American scholar athletes. With the help of my Board of Directors, each year, one student will be selected whom meets certain requirements and exemplifies the true meaning of a scholar athlete.
