Daryn Rockett
Stanford University,
Washington University School of Law St Louis

After receiving the Tony Hill Scholarship from Poly High School, I attended Stanford University. I graduated from Stanford with departmental honors, with distinction (meaning I was in the top 15% of my graduating class), and was awarded membership of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society (the oldest liberal arts honor society in the US, with members from that society including SCOTUS justice Sonia Sotomayor, W.E.B. Dubois, and Elijah Cummings). I also wrote an award-winning honors thesis about how Black Woman perceive and embody womanhood as informed by Christian beliefs. I won awards from the Black community services center for my dedication to academic excellence and the Black community at Stanford, as well as from the Stanford Alumni Association. I am now a first year student at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and I intend to complete a dual J.D./M.S.W. Degree so I can dedicate my career to service in the legal field. I will be working at Land of Lincoln Legal Aid in East St. Louis this summer where I will be a legal fellow with their Family Law and Justice in Schools service areas.
